Psalm 127:3-5

Sons are a heritage from the Lord, children a reward from him. Like arrows in the hands of a warrior are sons born in one's youth. Blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them. They will not be put to shame when they contend with their enemies in the gate.

Day 3

Today was a busy day. I had to organize a cookout for over a 100 people and also organize a sandwich making party to make loads of sandwiches for the rest of the weekend for the wrestlers to eat. The boys loaded up on the charter buses to go weigh in this morning, they were instructed to walk in with a swagger. Cael has that covered. They came back and we had the cookout.

They started wrestling tonight. Cael and Quincy's team won all 3 duals. Against FL Hurricanes Quincy won by fall and Cael won 4-0. Against Alabama both boys won by fall. Against GA Quincy was in a battle and then won by fall and Cael put the beat down on a kid and tech falled him. It was such a mix of emotions for me tonight. Honestly, I am used to doing this sort of thing with and for Carter who wrestled down here for 3 years. To be back down here with Cael and Quincy is almost surreal. To see my little 7 year old getting his game face on and leading the team off with falls was so sweet. Then another kid and then Cael and he has come into his own over the last year. I have to say I was a proud mom sitting up there tonight. Seeing my guys loading up with their teammates on the buses all decked out in their IA stuff - super sweet.

It was warm here today but light clouds. Well know what that means? Sunburn. Had to make 3 stops on the way back to the hotel to find some Aloe, finally found it at the last stop and also stumbled onto the cashier of the day who may not have had a full set of teeth, but did go and find me the aloe then yell down the store to me that it was over by the salad. I said thanks so much - we got a batch of Southern Fried Iowa kids!!

Cade may have to quote of the day. I took some of the children up to breakfast and he looks at some donuts with jelly on them as says "I have to puke up jelly!"

  1. You make it sound effortless to organize a cookout for over 100 people--Wow! I'm impressed...and that was on top of many other activities that were going on.

We have seven children and I just started following your blog. Sounds like it should be an interesting ride :)

    With Hope,
    Cheryl
