Psalm 127:3-5

Sons are a heritage from the Lord, children a reward from him. Like arrows in the hands of a warrior are sons born in one's youth. Blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them. They will not be put to shame when they contend with their enemies in the gate.

Busy, exhausting weekend

WOW, is it Wednesday already and I am just getting to posting about our crazy busy weekend.

Last Friday I took Mackenzie to band, left the van with the band instructor, got a ride home from Dean's co worker. Why? The home school band was taking a trip to Gurnee IL for a competition on Saturday. They did this same one last year, and did not do the best. This year another story, they scored a 98 out of 100!! YIPPEE!!! Then they went to Great America for the rest of the day to have some fun, and they did! Mackenzie got to hang out with a different group of kids and she had an outstanding time.
Saturday, Dean, Carter, Cael, and Quincy took off for Iowa City and the state Greco Roman wrestling meet held at IA City West High. I followed a bit later (in my father in laws car) with Reegan, Addy, Cade, and Kyler. Carter and Cael wrestled in the greco state tourney. Cael was in line for a tripe crown. That means winning all three styles of wrestling; folkstyle - wrestled in youth, high school, and college, greco roman & freestyle - wrestled internationally and in the Olympics. He had one other competitor in his bracket B50 and beat him 2 times. Carter was to have an outstanding bracket at N75. When we got there and the brackets came out, there were only 2, everyone else had moved up to N80. We tried to move as well, but were told no because the brackets were already done. I am guessing since B80 was so big now, adding two more would have been more work. But we were told we could move up the next day. Carter won his greco bracket as well, beating a very good wrestler 2 times. The dry streak ended for him and he won his 13th state title.
Don't forget Mackenzie who is at Great America and needs picked up at midnight in Marion!! Off we went, and picked her up. Short night indeed.
Sunday - mothers day. I get the movie Marley and Me, and an ACDC t-shirt!! AWESOME! Back to Iowa City for the state freestyle tourney. Cael is now 2 legs into the triple crown, one guy in B50 (same boy from the day before) Cael beats him twice and wins his first triple crown! WOW!! He has 3 state titles now, incredible kid. Seriously, this boy last year layed on his back and laughed during matches, now he is pretty good. His warm-ups are great, and include push-ups of many kinds; one handed, with claps, etc. I have so many people tell me how much fun he is to watch. I was so proud of him for trying this.
Carter gets moved up to the N80 bracket. Left only one guy at N75, but I had already given them the heads up that Carter and the other guy were moving up to get more matches. This makes N80 a 9 man bracket and an incredibly tough one. Some very good wrestlers in that bracket. You can see the weigh ins, and although Carter only weighed 73.8, he was not giving up much weight to the other guys. He amazed me, wrestled very good and won that bracket. 14 state titles.
Is this a bit of a brag post for these 3 kids, yep it is, they all three surprised me with what they accomplished, made me very proud, and used their God given talents to the very best of their abilities.
Oh, cannot forget my lifer friend, she showed up to support, help, and just to be there. I am going to owe her big time, she has two children, I have 8. Let me tell you, if she can keep this up she will get a medal!! We support each others children in what they do, but no way this ever be equal. However, it will always be fun. Thanks Skeeter, I am not sure you will ever know how much it means just to have you sitting or standing by me.

What did the other five do? Be supportive as always, sitting matside, fanning, cheering, you name it. We also went to a cook-out at my in laws Sunday night. Great time, and yummy food.
