Sons are a heritage from the Lord, children a reward from him. Like arrows in the hands of a warrior are sons born in one's youth. Blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them. They will not be put to shame when they contend with their enemies in the gate.

Vacation synoposis

Ok, I will make this brief. I would be writing a short chapter book if I wrote out all details of our trip. We left 4/1/09, and drove to KY. Stayed the night there and got into Kingsport TN on Thursday the 2nd. Our time in Kingsport was to watch the AAU National Elementary Wrestling Duals. Carter was the 70lber on the IA Black team. While we were there Cade got very ill, fever, vomit, poops. Cael puked, Mackenzie puked. Carter went 5-3, either winning by major, pin, tech fall or getting beat in OT. His team finished as national runner-ups.

Off to VA on 4/5. After arriving at Dean's cousins, Mackenzie got sick again, Quincy had the poops, Carter got sick, Cade continued to be ill, Reegan was a bit off, Kyler took up pooping as a new hobby! We spent some great days relaxing and visiting Amish stores. By the time we rolled out on 4/8, everyone was pretty much on the mend.

4/8 we spent on the road and in Edinboro PA, where we all got to experience John's Wildwood Pizzeria calzone! Dean had talked about these delightful calzones for years. This was one of the main reasons we were in Edinboro.

4/9 off to Buffalo NY, we saw a great Naval museum, got attacked by Seagulls, and then drove to Niagara Falls. We saw this incredible design by God in the daylight, grabbed a quick bite to eat, and then saw it again at night all light up - amazing, also a bit cold! Did I mention that Dean spent most of this day in the bathroom?

4/10 to Cleveland OH, which is a really neat city. We saw the Christmas Story house and museum. People there liked our big family and asked us to send pictures. We also went to the Science museum there.

4/11 - Reegan turned 9!! We went back to the science museum because we had a great time, and there was a lot we did not see, and then took off to S. Bend IN. Once we got there we toured Notre Dame campus. Dean and I made a trip to Wal-Mart to get Easter Baskets

4/12 - Easter Morning - He Has Risen!! The children are thrilled to see Easter Baskets, and ask if the Easter bunny came to which I replied, we are not celebrating a bunny who hops around dropping plastic eggs filled with candy from his butt - these baskets are to celebrate the good news that Christ has risen!! Wow, that was liberating. Homeward bound we went eating all kinds of candy.

Last week was spent running around like crazy, and catching up. We had 3 parties in the last 7 days, throw in the usual everyday things with this house, and it was a busy week - I had to nap yesterday for a while, I was so tired I woke myself up snoring!! You will notice one thing - I did not get sick.

Ready for another week, and I promise to stay on top of this now that things are back to "normal".

  1. Dawn, It's nice to hear about your vacation with the family. Glad everyone is feeling better and home safely. Only 2 months left before our first child, Samantha, is born! We are very excited and starting to get prepared. I don't know how you manage with 8. Love you! Renee
