Psalm 127:3-5

Sons are a heritage from the Lord, children a reward from him. Like arrows in the hands of a warrior are sons born in one's youth. Blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them. They will not be put to shame when they contend with their enemies in the gate.

Psalm 127:3-5

giving

Our children get an allowance, Mackenzie on down to Cade. They get .50 cents for each year they are old. We gave them envelopes to color and an empty can. Each week when they get their allowance they have to put some in their envelope, this money goes into their savings account. The empty can if for a charity of choice. Last year we let them choose, each month a different child got to pick, we collected for Cannonball, our church, animal control, the raptor center, and Samaritan's purse. This year the children have decided to sponsor a child through Compassion. They spent time online looking at the available children. They choose an 11 year old boy from Rwanda. They got the kit the other day and sent the money in. This is a monthly commitment of $32.00. His picture is on our refrigerator. I am really proud of the kids, and their desire to help another child, in another part of the world. I am eager to see where this goes with correspondence and what we may be able to learn through this whole process.

The rest of the money is theirs to spend. I do not put % requirements, I want them to learn to give from their heart, no matter the amount. It is fun to watch them decide how much to give and how much to keep.
