Sons are a heritage from the Lord, children a reward from him. Like arrows in the hands of a warrior are sons born in one's youth. Blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them. They will not be put to shame when they contend with their enemies in the gate.

Memory Making

Do you ever have a day or a moment that you just hope gets etched into your memory? I had one of those last night. I will have to back up to a bit to yesterday afternoon. I was visiting with my mom and grandma and Roy came over. He wanted to know if I would like some sweet corn that he had, I said sure (I do have a love of sweet corn). Then he stood and talked for a bit with us, and made mention that he had a hard morning. A hard day emotionally, he was getting choked up all morning and could not get anything done. I let him know that is ok, he was with Joyce for a very long time, it is normal to feel sad.

It seemed to me like the perfect night for company. Roy brought the corn and I made spaghetti and corn bread. Once he got here he almost wore a path out walking back to his house for things, we decided we should eat a few of his tomatoes and then we needed honey. These tomatoes bring Roy a lot of joy, he cares for them every day, and just loves to look and talk about them, and last night he enjoyed eating them.

When supper was over he started talking about a couple who come down to the community center and sing once a month and about a song he likes and a singer he likes. Well, we ended the night with Dean pulling up some of the videos on youtube and Roy in the kitchen with a look of like fond memories were rushing into his head and he was singing along. Let me say, I hope I etch that sight into my memory forever. What a blessed day.

It was also nice to spend a few hours visiting with my mom and grandma. Grandma will be leaving to go back to AZ in two weeks. I also spent my third morning in a row sitting under a shade tree at the park while the older kids were in VBS and letting the two little boys swim. I had a fantastic time visiting with other moms and just relaxing and enjoying the outside and the kids at play.

Now, here is an event I am sure Mackenzie would like not to make a memory. She and Carter left for Dubuque yesterday to go to the Dubuque county fair with some friends and to go boating today. She got pulled over by a state trooper for get this - going 4 miles an hour over. She was going 59, and I kid you not got pulled over for it. She was given a written warning. I mean if she is getting pulled over I would want an opportunity to raz her some later on - what can I call her? Quasi hot rod? Semi speeder? Light lead foot?
